Okay, mates. The Captain is going to stop apologizing for the long gaps in-between posts here. It is what it is. If you want to read my stuff, just keep checking back from time to time.
Today's post is going to be brief.
There's really not much to be said about this.
It's about Michael Flynn, retired Lt. General from the U.S. Army, former director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, and for a whopping 22 days the National Security Advisor to failed-President Donald Trumpf.
Flynn was forced out of the DIA and into retirement basically because he was an asshole.
He was forced to resign as NSA due to an indictment against him concerning lying to Congress about a conversation he had with Russian operatives.
In 2017 Flynn took a plea deal in which he plead guilty to the above charge - a felony conviction, but the sentencing was delayed several times. In 2019 he fired his legal counsel and hired Sidney Powell.
Yes, that Sidney Powell, the lying lawyer who promoted Trumpf's election-fraud lie until her legal counsel finally admitted, "no reasonable person would conclude that the statements [by Powell about the 2020 election] were truly statements of fact".
Powell is facing a humongous lawsuit from the Dominion voting machines company and disbarment for filing frivolous lawsuits.
Captain's Note: Recently released documents show that Trumpf and the whole team knew the election fraud claim was a lie from the very beginning.
Powell convinced Flynn to withdraw his guilty plea and appealed to the Justice Department to withdraw the charges, but Flynn was pardoned by Trumpf before any further action could be taken.
Captain's Note: Accepting a Presidential Pardon includes the admission of guilt.
After the lost election, Flynn counseled Trumpf to suspend the U.S. Constitution and hold a new election under military authority.
Yes, Flynn was suggesting a military coup d'etat.
And on July 4, 2020, Flynn laid aside his military oath "to protect and defend the Constitution", publicly pledging allegiance to "QAnon" - the people who brought us "Pizzagate".
"Pizzagate" was a conspiracy theory stating that Hillary Clinton and other high-ranking Democrats were running a child sex-trafficking ring out of the basement of Comet Ping Pong Pizzeria in Washington, D.C. This prompted death threats to the owner and staff, and one gullible fool even fired three shots from an AR-15 into the restaurant.
Captain's Note: There is no basement at Comet Ping Pong.
So that's Michael Flynn in a nut shell.
On Monday Flynn appeared on a right-wing radio talk show and, in the course of an off-the-rails conversation, Flynn announced, "Somebody sent me a thing this morning..."
"Somebody sent me a thing..."
Say that again out loud and listen to how stupid it sounds.
That "thing" was a crack-pot article saying the government is planning to sneak the COVID-19 vaccine into our salad dressings.
I shit you not.
And now the right-wing nutjobs are going to stop eating salads!
